  1. hello does anyone have gay thoughts? i do when i am really on an big OCD downer, or is it just me? i have had OCD for over 25 years, 6 years ago i had a big recurrence of OCD (off work for months and on high dose of anti-d's) and i had a lot of gay thoughts about some friends (none of them are gay), i dont think i'm attracted to the look of men just the thought of sex particularly oral sex. i never had them before my massive occurence of OCD, and just wondered if anyone else did, i am now on a real big occurence of OCD again, off work etc starting to think them now too, My sexual relationship with my wife is not great, she has some health problems too so i dont blame her. anyway thanks for reading, has anyone had similar or is it just me??? i'm sure i'm not gay as ive never looked at a man and fancied them, but i love the sight of a good looking woman
    thanks

  2. I think, as with many other posts on the forum, this is just the OCD bully grinding you down. I think that you know you aren't gay, but you are just worried that you might be. I'd just like to point out here that I am a 14 year old boy, who has never had OCD but I have had sympathetic symptons and my Dad had it for a while too (ratwomble). I'd reccomend every time you get the worry you just think about how much you love your wife, andhow much you hate the OCD. I'm sure my dad would be happy to respond to a PM if you need more support.

  3. hi thanks, i would never wish OCD on anyone, it truly is awful, i have the "everythings contaminated" sort among lots of other symptoms,(more obsessive than compulsive though i do the have the handwashing to deal with, i'm on valium for anxiety last sunday just got too much.
my OCD must surely affect my kids, but i do try to hide it as much as i possibly can, but sometimes its difficult, but i have been honest as much as i can with them an there is some understanding, i'd hate to think they would "catch" OCD from me!
PS im new on this site i dont know how to PM!
    thanks

  4. You have to go to your profile, then click on messages. Or maybe click on the persons profile and send to them. It's like that though. My dad had compulsions to remove things from roads (e.g. branches and things that might hurt people if they are driven over, but it reached the point where he was removing crisp packets and was putting himself in danger. He had some contamination issues as well, and washed his hands a lot more than normal. He was bad for a bout a year, and in that time I started washing my hands a little more, and I had issues with taps and things on the edges of surfaces, but now he is better, I don't have any of that stuff anymore. I think this was partly because he would ask me to check things for him when he was ill, so I picked up on the anxiety and the nagging sensation to check things. I understand your fear of passing it on to your kids, and I think you are right about it being "catching" but if you are hiding it, then I think your kids should be fine, but I know that it is good for your kids to know that you are ill, and what you are experiencing is not normal, and is because your ill. However, I understand that that can be difficult if you have very young children who might not understand it as well as older children might.

    Hope this helps,
    Andrew

  6. hello rich i think ocd manifest its self in some people by why of something they do not like or find totally horrific, for me its hurting children i get words and thoughts pop into my head but luckly im not plague by images but all the same its life and soul destroying. and when your having a moment with ocd and its bad you cannot see how it will get better. ive tried exercise like swimming and walking and that has helped alot, getting a good nights sleep also helps i find that when i am tired i get really bad thoughts then the cycle starts again. i believe eating well and limiting caffiene drinks and alcohol help too. i cannot drink normal coffee as its makes me have panic attacks. reading too is good read something up beat if you can find it. do the stuff you enjoy be that listen to music spend time with your wife even a hug may help. basically i think we need to find ways to get our minds occupiec with something of interest not of the thoughts. p.s try not to be too hard on yourself hun things will approve again like they did before. take care nettle

  8. hi nettlenoo, yeah the thoughts you have must be awful, sometimes my kids drive me potty (i think thats what they are meant to do ) and i think i would be a whole lot worse without them, some times they set my anxiety sky high, but a lot of the time they are a much needed distraction eg if we are doin painting or doing things as a family
as for stuff like reading, i cant concentrate enough for that, though i like to research stuff like conspiracies ect...
i did do a CBT course years ago and it didnt help, other than meeting people with OCD, felt like i was the only one in the world with it before i did the CBT.
this forum is helping me too, its good to get it off your chest with people who understand, and not people who tell me to "pull myself together"....i wish it was that simple.
im waiting to hear from the physciatric nurse after a visit to the GP on tuesday.
take care everyone, and thanks for the responses
