  1. Me and my bestfriend have both just discovered that we have OCD because of the online survey which we took, we evaluated ourselves and all the symptoms proved that we had it already then we looked it up and it is true. We don't want to tell anyone because noone will believe us as we do not know if it is rare that two people in such close circumstances would suffer from the same illness? We are both young and would like to learn more about OCD, although we both have talked and discovered that we had these same symptons since we was younger and did not know eachother. We do not know what to do, and because were both only 16 we do not know whether to act on this or just see if it will pass, however it is creating a big impact on both of our lives and seems to be getting worse and even though as we grow up the things we do seem stupid but cannot stop, although we are greatful that we can talk about this together as it is not something many other people would understand and might say we are overreacting.

  2. Hi Alscints,

Welcome to the forum. This is a friendly place to discuss any aspect of OCD and how it affects you.

I am pleased that you found the online survey helpful but it is just that, an online survey. The only certain way to find out if you have OCD or something else is to see your doctor. It is good that you have a friend you can talk about OCD with but the best thing to do is for both of you to see your doctors. I presume you are both still at school and if so there may also be someone at the school you can contact. There is a lot that can be done to help people with OCD and your doctor is the best person to advise so see him/her as soon as possible.

Hope all goes well for you. Pease do let us know how you get on.

  3. Dear alscints

I like the symmetry of your names. Very clever.

In addition to what I posted on cintsals post, I would add that having two best friends with the illness doesn't surprise me at all. I think OCD sufferers have a lot in common and tend to be drawn to each other.

    Good luck

    David

  4. Hi,
Both my friend and i have deoression and OCD we were friends before we knew we both had the same diagnosis. With us is means that we are both more understanding of each other. However we have both been diagnosed with the condition and would suggest that you if this is bothering you make seperate visits to your GP. sometimes when you go through a survey on line we can thinki we have the condition but we may not as it doesn't always ask enough questions its there to give you an idea not to diagnose.
