  2. Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.

It's not always easy to talk to family and friends about our OCD, but it's easier to talk to others on the forum as we all have OCD and so can not only empathise but help and support each other.

If you click on the orange box entitled 'It's time to know' on the right hand side of this page you can access information on OCD, including the NICE guidelines. The treatment for OCD is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and or medication.

    Best wishes

  3. I try and hide mine too - the only person who almost knows how bad it is, is my husband. Even to him I hide the worst. Much love xx

  5. I've been showing signs of ocd, the kind I think should have me locked up, and spoke to my parents this week because I was worried I would lose the plot altogether if I didn't tell someone. They helped loads, just by being the same as always and not running away from me, or having me sectioned - which is sort of what I expected. I spoke to them on the phone tonight and they were even making jokes about it. To some people, that may sound horrible, but to me it made everything seem better for a little while.

If there is anyone at all you can talk to, I advise you to do it. Councillors and doctors are one thing, but family means so much more. I hope you find a way to open up. Saying things out loud to another person makes it seem more ridiculous and less frightening.

I know how you feel, I've had OCD my whole life and it is absolute h*ll. I hope you feel better soon and I sugest talking to your mum about it, she should be understanding, especially if you've ben showing signs of OCD throughout your life. - Jess
