A walk in the park

  1. I went for a walk in the park and came across a small clearing I had not seen before, strange as I had been to the park many times before and had never seen it. There was something mysterious about it and an erie silence almost as if I had walked into a secret garden.

In the clearing there were two heroic statues that had been there for what looked like decades and had generally been forgotten about judging by the amount of grime on them. The two statues, both naked, one male and one female, faced each other on the plinth silently and still as they had for many years.

Suddenly, an angel came down from heaven. "You've been such exemplary statues for so many years," he announced to them, "That I'm going to give you a special gift. I'm going to bring you both to life for thirty minutes, in which time you can do anything you want."

And with a clap of his hands and flap of his wings, the angel brought the statues to life. They jumped down from the plinth and approached each other a bit shyly at first but after a few words they dashed off to the bushes on the edge of the clearing from which shortly emerged a good deal of giggling, laughter and shaking of branches.

Fifteen minutes later the two statues emerged from the bushes with wide, satisfied grins on their faces and jumped back on the plinth and took up their still and silent positions again.

"You have only been half your time and still have fifteen more minutes," said the angel, winking at them, "Why not make the most of it".

The male statue said "Yes, let's use the time, but what shall we do?" Grinning even more widely the female statue turned to the male statue and said, "I know, let's do it again! Only this time you hold the pigeon down and I'll poop on its head."
