The Moderators do try to check all links that are posted on the forum; however it is not always possible to determine if a link has a virus or other malware attached to it. If a link with a virus etc is detected then the link will be deleted and a message will be posted by one of the Moderators. Links to inappropriate material, e.g. pornography and advertising are also deleted and appropriate action is taken against people posting such links. Forum members should satisfy themselves about the safety and suitability of any links. OCD Action cannot be held responsible for any external content.
Our advice is to have an anti-virus/malware facility on your PC and ensure it is up to date and to determine the suitability of material shown using, if appropriate, parental controls. Some ISPs provide a free anti-virus/malware service but others don’t. Anti-virus/malware software is readily available online and from computer outlets.

This article is on the OCD Chicago website, which has lots of really good articles by OCD experts and writers.
This particular article might be helpful to anyone who is not sure whether or not they want to try CBT exposure techniques with a therapist, or the self-help route.
It is written in a really clear style, which makes it accessbile to everyone, whether or not you've had a course of treatment before.
This article explains some ideas about graded exposure (i.e. starting with your smallest fears first, and gradually building up to your bigger fears, by working your way up the list, starting with the "easiest" or least distressing obsessions first.
It also explains the ideas behind the purpose of exposing yourself to your fears. And it talks about reasurance, compulsions, and ways that you may have been achieving short term relief at the expense of long term recovery.
I have attached this article as I think it's really good, and it may be interest or of help to other forum users.
However, it should in no way be inferred that I am saying this is the only route to receovery from OCD. I fully support everyone in any way that they wish to deal with their OCD, whether that is via CBT, ERP, medication, or any other alternative type of treatment. (I also fully support any forum users who feel that they do not wish to receive any treatment at all for their OCD.)
Although I think this article may be very helpful to some people, I absolutely support every individual's right to choose their own type of treatment, or to deal with their OCD in their own way of choice.
