I have just experienced adult chicken pox. I was not only very ill but the scabs are the worst night-mare for us CSPers.

But I have good news. For me I had a wonderful GP who immediately prescribed me anti-viral tablets with the same active ingredient that treats cold sores (You must start these within a day or so of the blisters starting). It prevented the 2nd wave of lumps progressing to blisters (which all scab).

I also used his logic and applied cold sore cream to the 2 blisters and many lumps that came up on my face (the lumps went away without scabbing).

I couldn't help but pick the scabs on my body but using hydro-colloid dressings meant I have been left with red marks that will eventually fade but no deep pits.

The really good news is that there is a vaccine. I advise that if you haven't had chicken pox (At least 10% of the population) and have CSP then demand to be vaccinated now!

Good luck

H
