There are still some tweaks we want to make

Okay, here's my sugestions! Firstly we need to be able to include images in our posts 'cos it won't accept the code. It also won;t accept the code for coloured fonts and we need more smilies!!! I kinda miss having my own forum, but I used to get bullied on there. I'll probs start a new one someday. - Jessi

Odd bug. After I've been using the forum a bit, the text suddenly goes smaller, and what I type in the Reply box appears ridiculously small, so I can hardly see what I'm typing. Does everybody else get this or is it just me? It never used to happen until a few weeks back.

Hi Wombat - is it possible to tell me which browser you're on (IE6, Firefox)? Might be able to pin point it, but I have a feeling its related to a setting on your computer as Caps mentioned. I know that some browsers tend to have text zoom facilities, which increase font sizes, but can also cause odd layout behaviours as a result. Usually found in the view menu on most browsers.

Thank you Truddles, age is not the only problem with me , it is also a long term social avoidance compulsion (to prevent me being a danger or doing anything wrong). <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" /> Oooh I have just learnt how to use the faces.

Hi Lil,

If you click on anybody's name next to their posts your own included it will take you to their profile page and the wire facility is on the right hand side of the page.

You can read anyone's wires but you can only post on either your own wire or the wire of one of your friends. They're like messages on a notice board or a telegram (that shows my age <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> ) I suppose that might be why they're called wires.

NOTE
PMs are private and only you and the person that you are sending the PM to can read it.
BUT
Wires can be read by anyone that uses the site. So don't put anything in a wire that you don't want others to read.

Sorry but I'm not very up on IT, so the answer is very basic but I hope it helps.

Wombat140,

Does the text start off normal size and then go smaller? There is no facility to change the text size on the forum so it shouldn't happen and I am not aware of this happening to anyone else. It is possible that it is your computer but as I am not a technical person I can't suggest anything. If it continues let me know via a PM and I will look into it.

Hi, please can you explain what wires are. Sorry to be so ignorant, but this is the first time that I have joined in a social type website. I read all of the privacy information and other details when registering but I do not think this was explained (I had to look up Avatar in the dictionary before I realised what it was refering to).

Hi Wombat,

If you click onto the word member under anyone's avatar it gives you a history of the topics that person has started and a list that they have contributed to. As you may have gathered I was bored over Christmas and played around with the forum and discovered a lot <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" /> Don't forget you can also use the forum search that is on the right hand side of the forum pages. It's like googling, you can also google to find things on the forum.

Great stuff Caps, a Help section is always appreciated. Just because features are obvious to the people who designed them, doesn't mean they will be obvious to everyone else...
With regard to the private messages. Some forums I've seen display a little bubble on the "My Profile" or equivalent button when a message comes in, saying "1 New Message" or what not. I think that's a pretty good system. Also, it might be handy to have a symbol marking topics you've contributed to. There was one on the old forum, but not now - unless I just haven't worked it out yet!

Hi Andrea,

Go to the appropriate forum for the topic you want to start and at the top of the page on the right side is a grey box stating 'post new topic' or at the top of the list on the left it says 'add new'. just click on either to start a new topic. It presents similar to the reply box you just need to add a title.

I reduce my email window so that it's only on the task bar (I think that's what it's called <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_confused.gif" title=":?" class="bb_smilies" /> ) at the bottom and so all I need to do when I'm alerted to a message is click on it and it opens to reveal the emails. It's so much easier than continually going to my profile.

One of the bonuses of joining the forum aside from the real friends that I've made is that it's improved my computer skills. I'm a self taught novice <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_confused.gif" title=":?" class="bb_smilies" />

A guide to how to make the most of the forum would be most helpful. Most things on the forum I've found out by trial and error.

Andrea,

I get an email to say if anyone has sent a PM or posted on my wire and that alerts me. I don't know how you would set that up as it's always been like that for me. It means I can read the replies without logging on to the forum. I'm sure sysop (sysop is in charge of the technical side of the forum) can help.

It's so much easier to use than other forums as it's so well laid out isn't it? It's as if it was on paper and not the stupid boxes the other forums use. Plus it's so easy to get all the information like who posted last and when members last posted.

I have asked for a guide on how to use all the facilities on the forum and apparently they are looking into doing a guide and FAQ as so many members aren't aware of all the things you can access on the forum.

Yes it is a friendly place isn't it?

I think it would be helpful to get alerts somehow if someone posted on your wire or sent you a message...sort of like Facebook...where you can be reading in one place but still know you have a message come in without having to go back and check messages.
Otherwise, I love the format...it allows for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

Hi Caps

I love the forum just the way it is. It is quite different from all the other forums I have visited in the last few weeks. It's very easy to operate, laid back and welcoming. The friends facility is great - it allows us to say things we do not want to say on the forum and helps to build up strong friendships. Just the right mix for me.

Well done to you and the rest of the team

The new Forum has been running for several months now and from the comments we have recieved people seem to like it and it certainly has been far more busy.

There are still some tweaks we want to make to improve it and to iron out some bugs - we are working hard on that. It is time for us to review the Forum to see what changes are needed. Some of you have already sent some very good suggestions and ideas but we would like to hear from more of you. So please let us have your comments and suggestions - what you like, what you don't like, what new features and sections would you like to see, and what you think should go?

We want to make the Forum the way you want it. You can post your comments here or you can send me a Private Message.

I look forward to hearing from you.
