Hey mate,

I know you are probably asleep by now, but if you aren't, why not try to focus on 1 thing that you will enjoy on the trip. Whether it is seeing how happy your family are, a really exciting ride, something like that. Try and paint a picture of it in your mind (sometimes I will actually sketch it out on paper if I am finding it hard to keep it in my head).

I find thinking hard on something like that can really let me stay away from negative thinking and can help re focus me when I am down. Maybe this will work for you too?

I really hope you have a super time mate and I am sure you won't let anybody down.

J

Hi robbie,

I didn't want you to go unanswered especially as you are due to go on holiday tomorrow.

Going on holiday can be stressful at the best of times, but combine it with the OCD and it pushes the anxiety to a point were it's difficult to cope.

You're extremely anxious and so are catastrophising. You're seeing all the things that could possibly go wrong however remote the possibility. But it's the OCD that's giving you these thoughts.

Try not to be too hard on yourself and go and enjoy yourself with your family. Once you're on your way I'm sure that your anxiety levels will fall.

I hope that you and your family have a great holiday at Euro Disney. Let us know how you got on when you return. Don't forget if you have access to a computer whilst you're away you can always log on to the forum for support from members of the forum.

Have fun <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />

Hi Robbiebob

My OCD is not the same as yours - I have severe contamination OCD which is around 75% under control. However, I do get frantic every time I go on holiday. For me it is all that effort getting packed and then the worries that I might not cope when I get there. But after the first few hours there I settle in quite well and am always pleased to have made the effort. It is lovely to have different food and see different sites and to have some fun for a change away from the pressures of home.

Have you worked out what is worrying you? I know from your posts that you do pretty well when you have thought it all through and have reassured yourself and got rid of the doubts.

It does sound as if you have got into a panic situation. I think you need to reassure yourself once again that you are not going to go insane or freak out -it's just your thoughts making you anxious. Try to relax and, think about all the positive sides of the holiday - having fun with the family, meeting Donald and Mickey etc. I was surprised when I went to Disney World (Florida) what fun it is to be a child all over again. It might just be the tonic you need.

All the very best
Anne
