Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm not the best person to reply but I've just had a go myself and it seems to work for me and I'm not using the most up to date software. Click on the green OCD at School box on the right hand side of your screen, it's a bit slow but when you get into the site you just click on the Sign Up box at the top and it will give you a form to complete. If it doesn't work one of the moderators will probably be online a bit later and will guide you through and if all else fails there is a computer wizard who will be able to sort you out.

I think its a good idea, I first told a lady at toddler group, who worked for a sex offenders place in Surrey about my intrusive thoughts telling her I thought I had them as I had a bad childhood, she gave me the no of a sexual abuse helpline and I rang them had counselling sessions, then saw a dr on 11.03.11, so its always good to talk, Im quite an open person and this was the hardest thing I had to do.

Also i think that someone is more likely to poke fun at someone acting wierd, for eg, i would touch things and repeat things, kids at school would think weirdo !!! maybe if they knew it was an illness they may act kinder ???

I think its a good idea as long as they don't announce who has and who hasn't got OCD.

That's one thing that they definitely won't be doing.

But remember prejudice arises from ignorance. Once people are made aware of the facts of any given subject a lot of the prejudice goes.
Most people, health professionals included are totally unaware of the extent of the impact that OCD has on our lives. A lot think that it's confined to a little checking and hand washing and don't realise that it's something that we can't help and can have a devastating impact on our lives.

Lets just hope that the kids aren't as prejudiced as they are at my school... <img src="http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_confused.gif" title=":?" class="bb_smilies" />

In case you missed this announcement on the home page I'm posting the following -

OCD Action is proud to announce that we have received funding from a charitable trust to launch a major new programme to help young people with OCD at school.

The OCD at school project will see special events for young people, new resources, events for school nurses and welfare officers, a new website and an army of parents visiting schools nationwide.

We are aiming to start activities in time for the new school year in September and are currently building a project team to make sure that we can meet all our objectives.

Can you help us?

At this stage we are looking to build up a list of people interested in being a part of this new initiative. Whether it is helping to design materials or visiting a local school we need your help. We are especially keen to recruit young people with OCD currently in school and the parents of young people with OCD either currently in school or who have recently left.

To register your interest please go to the right hand side of this page and click on 'OCD at School Project'
