Hi Ellinio,

Welcome to the forum.

The best place to get help is your GP. I know this did not work for you before, but sadly this is not unusual and many GPs mistake OCD for depression. Have a look at the NICE Guideline http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/files/2009/09/nice-cg031-quickrefguide.pdf this explains about OCD and says what can and should be done, then see your GP again. Some people find it helps to print the relevant pages and take them when they see the GP. If you are not happy with what your GP says then you can be asked to be referred to a specialist or for a second opinion.

There are many books that may help, one of the best I have read is Overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by David Veale and Rob Willson, ISBN 1-84119-936-2

Best wishes,
Caps

I have had OCD for a long time now. I think I developed it about 19 years ago as I remember having weird rituals and slight obsessions then. Its something that I have lived with (and have hidden for years). I did try to get help from my GP a couple of years ago, who didn't really take me seriously and put it down to depression, which I found rather unhelpful as I am not atall depressed. He suggested I went to IAPT for this self help but when I got there it was alot of of people who had severe depression and didn't help atall so that stopped there. I was wandering if anyone knows how and where I can get help to deal with the obsessions and rituals that I have. Although they do not seriously hinder me, I often have difficulties dealing with them when I am stressed and it often causes me headaches. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
