Thanks for your replies.

Lindsay that is really helpful, and I feel reassured now to continue with Dianette for a while and at least I know that there are other things I can try.

Julia thanks for suggestions, I'm afraid I have tried changes to lifestlye etc without success, I lead a healthy life anyway and have a balanced diet. I have found that lots of fresh air, drinking lots of water and also being in the sun all help my skin, but unfortunately in uk climate is too cold for me to stay outside long ort leave windows open much to get fresh air this time of year and there really isn't much sunshine. Still the water helps at least, but I still have acne, just it's worse if I don't keep hydrated.

Hi,

I was on dianette for a long time and had absolutely no problems with it and it did help my skin. Recently my doctor has taken me off it as I had been on it for approx 8 years and apparently that is too long. I now take a different pill (yasmin) which seems fine but possibly my skin is very slightly worse.

I took antibiotics when I was a teenager (quite a long time ago now!), was on various types. They were effective but each type only worked for a bit before my acne became resistant to them... I'd say give the dianette a good go and then if that doesn't suit you try a different pill or antibiotics under the guidance of the doc.

Hope that helps.

Hi Born Original
I am afraid I dont know anything about medication for acne, hence I cannot advise you on the best type of medication to take, but I would be interested to know if, in your opinion, you think that your acne might be affected by other areas of your life such as diet, lifestyle etc. It may be that by makings some simple, long term changes to your lifestyle, you could perhaps alleviate the condition or you may be able to do a few things that could directly (topical lotions to improve the skins appearance) or indirectly (stress relief techniques) help your skin. There are a number of causes of acne and some of them will be exacerbated by environmental factors that may be, to some extent, within our control.

Was wondering if any of you have taken Dianette to treat acne? Or antibiotics?

My doctor gave me the choice of the pill or antibiotics and I opted for the pill (Dianette), however I have been reading up on it online and there seem to be many horror stories related to taking this particular pill. I have been on it 2 months and I think tell my skin and hair are less greasy, but I still have acne and I know it takes time to see results, but am not sure how long I really want to stay on this.

Thanks
