Big boost for advocacy
March 7, 2012
OCD affects everybody differently. What might be a molehill for one person can be a mountain for another. But for everybody, getting better is about challenging yourself and winning small precious achievements against the OCD bully.
So what have you been able to do today? . . . Have you been able to get out for the first time in ages or managed to do your CBT task or cut down on a ritual?
What ever your success please share it with us all. Feel proud and inspire us all.

Thursday (10th May) I handed in my last assignment of a 3 year degree course, meaning I've completed a degree despite being affected badly by OCD for two-thirds of my time there. For the first time in months I feel as if I have achieved something :).

Today I got a load of laundry into the washing machine, only washing my hands minimally between putting the stuff in, and handling the soap sachet... I'm trying to defy many thing to hurt me, but it wont cos we have defence systems that protect us...

Today I managed to cope with having the TV engineer in to convert my TV. I even coped when he touched the TV, shelves and remote control. He was very understanding and asked each time he had to touch anything and had clean hands!

I managed to have a day free of doing any washing. I used the time to sort through the mountain of paperwork that had accumulated because I thought that it was contaminated. I only washed my hands twice instead of the usual umpteen times.

Have slowly started to read and watch the news again and read numerous stories on a newspaper's crime section online. Unthinkable a few months ago.
