However, the evidence base for CBT in children and adolescents with BDD is currently limited to a few small studies.

We are developing and testing a new CBT intervention young people with BDD and their families.

If you are a young person (aged 12-18) with diagnosed BDD, of if you suspect you may have BDD, and would like treatment for it, please read on.

If your child/teenager has BDD or you suspect she or he may have BDD, and you would like treatment, please read on.

You (or your child, or if you are a parent) will be assessed by an experienced team at the OCD & Related Disorders Clinic at the Maudsley Hospital (London) and, if we feel that the trial is suitable for you, we will offer treatment and follow-up for one year.

If you are interested in participating, your GP or local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) can refer you for an initial assessment. Give them this flyer and the attached referral form or give them the contact details below.

We would like to invite you to take part in the above-named research study.

We are looking for male or female volunteers with a diagnosis of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), aged between 18 and 65. Participants should not have any other current significant psychological or psychiatric disorders or a history of these either.

The purpose of the study is to learn more about the thoughts and behaviours related to comparing appearances in people with and without BDD. People with BDD are preoccupied with and distressed by one or more aspects of their physical appearance. Like most if not all people, they often compare their appearance to others. We would like to learn more about these processes. We hope this research will inform treatments for BDD. The study is a student project being undertaken as part of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

There is now a lot of evidence that people who suffer from an anxiety disorder are more likely than average to have a relative who suffers from a similar problem. Whilst this may be partly due to shared genes, it is also likely that experiences and attitudes gained when growing up also play a role. However, little is known about how or which experiences might be related to anxiety, and importantly what experiences may protect against developing anxiety in later life.

If we understood more about these processes, it may help us prevent the development of anxiety in future generations. We are looking for dads with OCD who live at home with their children, who have children aged 7-12 to take part in our study at the Institute of Psychiatry, London. The study involves an interview by phone and some questionnaires for you and your family. Time and travel (if necessary) will be reimbursed. We anticipate participation will involve a couple of hours of your time.
