On Saturday 18th February, OCD Action are teaming up with Maudsley Hospital to run a whole day of events for young people with OCD and their parents.

We’ll be kicking off at 10 am with some ice-breaker activities, followed by a group session for young people and a workshop for parents. Then, after a buffet lunch at 12:30, we’ll be getting everyone together for a drumming extravaganza, where we’ll all be taking some time to explore our musical side…

This whole day event is totally free, as the City Bridge Trust is funding the event as part of our OCD at School project, so there’s no excuse not to come along! You just need to book your place by calling Trish on 020 7253 5272 or by emailing trish@ocdaction.org.uk, and then get yourself down to Friends House in Euston on the 18th.

For details on how to get to Friends House, please see their website for directions:

We look forward to seeing you there!

OCD Week 20th-26th February 2012

This February, OCD Action will be running its 3rd OCD Week to raise awareness of OCD amongst the general public.

In 2010, our first OCD Week, we were able to reach over 3million people via the media and countless more through 20 local events. OCD Week 2011 was an even bigger success, our media work reached over 6million people and we were able to double the number of local awareness events.

For OCD Week 2012 we have set some ambitious targets. This year we not only want to reach more people than ever before but we also want to make sure that our important message is heard by people that we don’t always reach such as people from minority communities.

The success of OCD Week has always relied on your help – so do please get involved.

We are very keen to find out some more about why many people with OCD delay seeking help from their doctor and if there is anything that the Charity can do encourage people to take action more quickly.

This is a quick and simple survey for people with OCD and should not take more than a couple of minutes. If you would like to participate please click here

On Saturday 17th September, support group leaders from around the country gathered together in Birmingham for OCD Action’s 3rd annual Support Group Leaders’ meeting.

The meeting focused on developing a “Good Groups Charter” with group leaders agreeing on the key things that make a support group excellent.

Support Groups can play a significant role in helping people affected by OCD to get better and stay on top of their disorder. For this reason it is vital that groups work together to set and achieve the highest possible standards.

Over the next month, OCD Action will be working with support group leaders to finalise the charter and start the processes of helping groups to meet standards and sign up. The Charity hopes that by next April, we will have been able to grant “good group” status to the majority of support groups.
