This weekend, OCD Action had the incredible privilege of taking part in the Charity Walk for Peace 2017.
This truly inspirational event is organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK in order to bring together charities from all over the country, raise money to help people in need and promote their message of "Love for All, Hatred for None". OCD Action were one of over 80 charities who took part in the Walk for Peace. It was an absolutely delightful day, with beautiful weather and a great community atmosphere as a few thousand people walked along the river and took in the beautiful sights of Newham, East London.
Two of our wonderful volunteers, Jen Hughes and Shaozhe Chen (below, first picture), took part in the walk, along with our Lead Fundraiser, Charlie Loveday (below, second picture).
It was also a great opportunity to spread awareness about both Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the work that we do as a charity, with plenty of people coming to our stall to ask about the disorder.
Not only this, but thanks to the incredible generosity of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association, participants in the Walk are receiving Matched Funding. So every penny that Jen, Shaozhe and Charlie raised during the event has been doubled by the Elders. As a result, OCD Action has raised over £1000, which will go towards our important work to help people living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Thank you and congratulations to Jen and Shaozhe for participating in the event and raising an incredible £313.75 (which, don't forget, will be doubled to an even more incredible £627.50!) It's not too late to contribute to their JustGiving page here!
And an absolutely huge thank you to the Ahmadiyya Muslims Elders Association for setting up this wonderful event, and for allowing OCD Action the opportunity to take part.
